HetterscheidtNIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — Returning to the Gallagher Center this weekend, the Niagara women’s volleyball team continues conference play with a pair of matches. Niagara starts the weekend off with a tilt against Quinnipiac on Oct. 6 at 1:00 p.m. before taking on Fairfield on Oct. 7, also at 1:00 p.m.

Last Time Out
  • Niagara earned a split last weekend on the road, defeating Manhattan in four sets on Sept. 29 before falling to Iona on Sept. 30 in four sets.
  • In the team’s win over Manhattan, Caroline Leitch and Jaycie Roberts both recorded double-digit kills with 17 and 14, respectively. Emillie Wright had a team-leading 16 digs while Jessica Streuer recorded 40 assists for Niagara.
 
On The Court: Niagara Purple Eagles (3-12, 3-3 MAAC)
  • Leitch currently leads the team in kills with 142 and Streuer has a team-best 7.21 assists per set so far this season.
  • Two Purple Eagles are among the conference leaders when it comes to digs per set. Wright is currently sixth in the MAAC (4.02), while Roberts is currently eighth (3.56).
 
Across the Net
Quinnipiac Bobcats (3-12, 2-3 MAAC)
  • Lydia Jones leads the MAAC in hitting percentage (.342), while Kat Miller the leads the conference in service aces (27).
  • Niagara has been dominant in the all-time series against Quinnipiac, winning 12 of the 13 all-time contests between the two programs.

Fairfield Stags (8-8, 7-0 MAAC)
  • The Stags, the reigning MAAC champions, come into the weekend’s play winners of their last seven matches.
  • The Stags hold the edge over the Purple Eagles in the all-time series, 34-10. The Purple Eagles look to earn their first win over the Stags since Sept. 19, 2015, which was a five-set win in the Gallagher Center.
