Greg was an alumnus of St Francis High School Class of 1978, State University of NY at Buffalo BA’86 and JD’92. He had an extraordinary love for learning often seeking truth through a myriad of journals, newspapers, books, travel, relationships he forged, and hands-on experiences. His unique ability to retain and share general information, local and world history, geo-political historical and current events, recipes, travel destinations, and the best restaurants always surprised folks who met him. Greg loved verbally sparring with friends and enemies alike. He loved the challenge of a good argument and often converted his enemies on to the “Greg Love Train”.

Greg took pride in the varied professional and volunteer positions he held throughout his life including, Legislative Assistant for Council Member David Franczyk, Erie County Legislator 1993-2001, Erie County Deputy Commissioner of Parks & Recreation, Adam Plewacki Post #799 FCU member, Broadway Market member, Polish Community Center member, Lexington Food CoOp member, Adam Mickiewicz Library & Dramatic Circle, Inc. member, Dnipro member, Ukranian American Civic Association member, Torn Space Theater supporter, Polish Roman Catholic Union of America member, Ukrainian Congress Committee Election Observer Delegation, Ukranian FCU, Good Neighbors FCU, Erie County Democratic Committee member, Eugene V. Debs Hall member, and much more. He lent his fervent support to local and neighborhood organizations, democratic elections, city-wide restoration projects, and the advancements of mutual appreciation for all cultures especially for his Polish heritage and adopted, beloved Ukraine.

Greg will be remembered by his wife and children as a tough on the exterior but always loving family man who found real joy in caring for his children. He was their biggest cheerleader and toughest side line coach throughout their middle and high school years. He was proud of their accomplishments, supportive of their educational and professional goals, and encouraged their shared love of travel, athletics, continued education, and exploration. He taught them to pursue truth, raised them to have compassion for others, and fight for their beliefs. His relationship with his wife of 33 years was sewn from a simple request to sign a Democratic candidate’s petition. Throughout their loving marriage they enjoyed their mutual friends and interests, a good laugh, exchange of witty repartee, and memorable road trips.

Greg will be missed by the many friends and family members he loved.  He was often called a force to be reckoned with but, those who knew him, loved him.

A Celebration of Greg’s Life will take place at the PIETSZAK FUNERAL HOME, 2400 William St., near Harlem Road on Friday, March 21st from 2-4 and 6-8 PM where a service will occur at 7:30 PM.

Friends and family are invited to the Adam Mickiewicz Library and Dramatic Circle, Inc., 612 Fillmore Avenue at Friday, March 21st at 8:30 pm for a toast and dedication ceremony in honor of Greg.
