NIAGARA UNIVERSITY ATHLETICS
NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. – Three second half goals from Canisius (3-6-1, 1-3-0 MAAC) spelled doom for the Niagara University men’s soccer team (3-10-0, 1-4-0 MAAC) as they dropped the annual Battle of the Bridge to the Golden Griffins, 4-0.
Match Moments
- 17′ – Luca Pacheco got arguably the best look of the night for Niagara early in the opening session. The current MAAC Offensive Player of the Week found himself with space 20 yards out but had his ball deflected for an easy save.
- 45′ – After another Pacheco shot was redirected high, Niagara earned a corner kick with 11 seconds remaining before the halftime horn. Absolom Solorio Villalpando curled the ball right on net, but an extension from the Canisius keeper prevented the Purple Eagles from the tying tally.
- 80′ – In the midst of a chippy second half, Dylan Avila ripped a right-footed shot from the left side of the 18-yard box, but watched it slice just beyond the reach of the goalkeeper and past the right post out of play.
