PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. — Plattsburgh broke a tie game in the 62nd minute and held on for a 2-1 victory over visiting Buffalo State in today’s SUNYAC regular season finale, leaving the Bengals on the outside looking in at the conference playoff picture finishing one point shy of the final spot.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Cardinals opened the scoring in the 11th minute and controlled possession for much of the opening half, outshooting the Bengals 14-3.
  • The Bengals netted the equalizer just under two minutes into the second half, however, when Paige Bly(Kings Park/Kings Park) netted her third goal of the season with an assist from Allie Reeds (E. Amherst/Williamsville South).
  • Plattsburgh regained the lead with an unassisted strike in the 62nd minute and did not allow the Bengals to pull even again.
  • The Cardinals finished with a 23-7 advantage in shot attempts.
  • Emma Krenzer (Scottsville/Aquinas) made nine saves to keep the Bengals within striking distance.

 
FOR THE FOES

  • Allison Seidman and Jessica Mangieri scored for Plattsburgh.

 
NOTEWORTHY

  • Buffalo State finished tied for seventh in the SUNYAC with nine points, just one point shy of Fredonia who the Bengals defeated head-to-head.
