LOCKPORT — Niagara County District Attorney Brian D. Seaman announced that Curtis Griggs, age 38, of Niagara Falls, was sentenced this morning to spend the next 70 years in prison. Griggs was convicted by a jury in February of this year of a series of violent felonies committed in 2022 in Niagara Falls, including attempting to murder two individuals with a high-powered rifle. County Court Judge Caroline Wojtaszek sentenced Griggs to 25 years for Attempted Murder and Assault for an attack on April 4, 2022, plus 10 years for Criminal Possession of a Weapon that day. Judge Wojtaszek then sentenced Griggs to an additional 25 years for Attempted Murder and Assault against a different individual on July 9, 2022, plus an additional 10 years for Criminal Possession of a Weapon on that day.
Seaman stated: “The sentence imposed today, what amounts to removing this individual from society for the rest of his life, is the only appropriate response to the level of violence he exhibited. The victims in this case will continue to live with their injuries. The defendant will not have the opportunity to victimize others.”
The cases were investigated by the Niagara Falls Police Department and prosecuted by First Assistant District Attorney Doreen Hoffmann and Assistant District Attorney Carrington Crossley.
