Rita R. Dupree, 86, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on April 9, 2024 at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, NY., surrounded by her loving family. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Elvera (Denitto) Ferraro. 

Rita was a graduate of LaSalle Senior High School and earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Buffalo State Teachers College. She was employed by the Niagara Falls Board of Education first as an elementary teacher, then in adult education teaching high school equivalency and was a national trainer for the External Diploma Program. 

Rita was an active member of St. John’s Church. She often volunteered as a member of the Rosary Altar Society, the annual Basket Auction Committee, the Finance Committee, Trash & Treasure Garage Sales, Bingo and Martha’s Bereavement Committee. She was a 60-year member of the Niagara Falls Excelsior Mother’s Club and also volunteered for Niagara Community Missions. 

Rita is survived by her children, Timothy Dupree, Christina (John) Asklar, Joseph (Jennifer) Dupree and Jonathan Dupree; grandchildren, Alexandra, Evan (Emily), Max (Jenna), Grant, Emma Kate, Keegan (Karen), Olivia, Kieran, Maeve and Denver Rose; siblings, Charles J. (Joyce) Ferraro, Dennis Ferraro and Michael (Renate) Ferraro; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother James C. Ferraro. 

Rita’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St. John de LaSalle Church, 8477 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY 14304. Private Interment at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial offerings may be made to Niagara Hospice House, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094. Arrangements by M.J.
