CANISIUS COLLEGE ATHLETICS
BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Canisius rowing team will close out the fall portion of its 2018 schedule on Saturday, as the Golden Griffins head to Philadelphia, Pa., for the Head of the Schuylkill Oct. 27.
The regatta is set for an 8 a.m. start, with the Blue and Gold racing in the Women’s Novice 4+ at 9:10 a.m., the Women’s Championship 4+ at 10:05 p.m. and the Women’s Club Championship 8 at 3:00 p.m.
Last Time Out
• The Blue and Gold took part in the Head of the Niagara on Oct. 14.
• The Griffs raced three varsity four boats race, while the varsity eight and second varsity eight dueled each other in the Women’s Collegiate 8+.
• The varsity four “A” boat led the way in the Women’s Collegiate 4+, placing first with a time of 13:33.26.
• Finishing second was the varsity four “B” crew, posting a 14:12.88 time, while the varsity four “C” came in third at 14:16.26, sweeping the top three spots over boats from Buffalo State, University at Buffalo, Cazenovia College, D’Youville and Oswego State.
• The varsity eight “A” crew edged out the varsity eight “B” boat with times of 11:25.19 to 12:28.72.
Head of the Schuylkill Notes
• Formally known as the Thomas Eakins Head of the Schuylkill Regatta.
• The regatta is held on the Schuylkill River as part of a scenic 2.5-mile course.
• The 48th edition of the regatta, the event is regarded as the home of American Rowing.
• This will be the first time Canisius rowing has participated in the Head of the Schuylkill in program history.

The Blue and Gold will open up the 2019 spring schedule at the Cooper Invitational in Camden, N.J. The regatta is set for Sunday, April 7, 2019.
