NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — Three members of the Niagara University women’s soccer program received All-MAAC accolades announced on Tuesday for the program’s most recipients since the 2015 season. Annie Ibey and Kelsey Araujo were All-MAAC Second Team members, while Ibey and Ida Miceli were both selected to the All-MAAC Rookie Team.
Ibey has been an offensive juggernaut all season for Niagara. The freshman from Niagara Falls, Ont. leads the team and is second across the conference in both goals and points with 10 and 23, respectively. Her 10 goals are the fourth most by a freshman since 2000 and her 10 goals are the most by a Purple Eagles since 2015. Her six game-winning goals this season are first amongst MAAC leaders. From Sept. 2-15, Ibey had on a four-game point streak, accumulating three goals and two assists. Ibey has scored multiple goals twice this season, against Cleveland State on Aug. 23 and in the MAAC Tournament First Round against Rider on Oct. 28.
Araujo has continued to evolve into one of the Purple Eagles’ prolific scorers. This season, she is second in the MAAC and leads the team in both shots (76) and shots per game (4.22), establishing new career highs in both categories. She also leads the team with a career-best five assists, while currently second to Ibey in goals with five, also a career high.
Miceli has played a prominent role for the Purple Eagles this season. The freshman from Nobleton, Ont. has played in 18 games, and has been in the starting lineup for 17 of those contests. She received her first collegiate point as an assist against Robert Morris on Oct. 26 before earning his first collegiate goal at Iona on Sept. 15. Her three points this season are the second-most on the team amongst rookies.
After defeating Rider, 2-1, at home in the MAAC Tournament First Round on Oct. 27, Niagara travels to battle top-seeded Monmouth in the MAAC Semifinals on Nov. 1 at 5 p.m.
