BUFFALO – The Buffalo State women’s soccer team took the win in their home opener tonight against Keuka College with a 3-0 final at Coyer Field.

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE

  • Three different Bengals scored as Gia Dilimone (Grand Island, NY/Sacred Heart), Hannah Esslie (Cairo, NY/Cairo-Durham), and Elle Bush (Middleboro, MA/Middleboro) each found the back of the net.
  • Bush’s goal was the first of her collegiate career and she also led the team with three shots.
  • Sam Kaufman (Cheektowaga, NY/West Seneca East) and Addy Williams (Grapevine, TX/Grapevine) combined to make seven saves to secure the shutout.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Both sides traded back-and-forth possessions for the first portion of the game.
  • Dilimone found an open lane and carried the ball straight through to net her first goal of the year and get Buffalo State on the board.
  • Shortly after, Esslie would also find a lane and sink in another Bengals goal.
  • The Bengals offense attacked early in the second half as Bush’s shot would carry just out of reach of the Keuka goalie to net a third goal for Buffalo State.
  • The Wolves tried to respond but could not get an answer for Kaufman or Williams who combined to have a strong showing for the Bengals.
  • Keuka outshot the Bengals by a narrow 15-13 margin.

FOR THE FOES

  • Sam Pelcher made five saves in the effort.
  • Parker Lahey led the Wolves with three shots.

The Bengals are back in action tomorrow as they travel to Houghton to battle the Highlanders at 4:00 pm.
