Hello Metalheads! This is John back with another track highlight to share some new music. This time The Elysian Void has brought us their second single called A Future Discarded. This single comes from their forthcoming album A Fatal Conceit which comes out on August 20th, 2026!
I have actually received this whole album a few weeks ago and can’t wait to share all of my thoughts on it. A Future Discarded is one of my favorite tracks on the album! The main riff is this steady, meandering and plodding riff that is hard not to headbang to. This combined with the super proggy sections like the slow jazz which opens the track and provides a little break towards the end of the track. Also the clean vocals in this track are almost choral-esque and super haunting.
If you like Progressive death metal this should be on your radar. This band consists of memebers from Black Crown Initiate, Subterranean Lava Dragon and Alustrium. Subterranean Lava Dragon released one of the albums that is super underrated from last year, go check that out too while you’re at it!
