
Jersey City, NJ – Men’s basketball falls to 0-2 in conference playing after being defeated by Saint Peter’s 71-43 at the Yanitelli Center Sunday afternoon.
Saint Peter’s started the game on a 10-0 run until the first media timeout. Niagara scored their first points of the game off of two free throws from Justin Page.
Landon Williams completed an and one opportunity, but then the Peacocks went on another 10-0 run to grow their lead to 26-8 at the 5:50 mark of the first half.
Out of the Purple Eagles timeout Kabeya Tshibangu recorded his first basket of the game before Josiah Sabino connected on two free throws to cut the lead to 26-12.
Reggie Prudhomme connected on a three, while Justin Hawkins completed an and one opportunity before the halftime break for a 32-19 Peacocks lead.
Both teams started even to begin the second half with seven points a piece before the first media timeout.
Following the 7-7 run to make it 39-26 St. Peter’s, the Peacocks put together a 12-6 run before the eight minute media timeout to grow the lead to 51-32.
Sabino and Brian Griffith both added layups to cut into the Peacocks lead before another media timeout to make it 51-36.
Saint Peter’s ended the game on a 20-7 run with Griffith, Hawkins and Tshibangu accounting for Niagara’s final points.
