
Ed was born on April 21, 1949 to the late Florence and late Edward Witul.
A devoted brother of Larry (Deborah) Witul and Mark Witul. Loving uncle of Eric (Renee) Witul, Jacob (Tracy) Witul, Kyle Witul, Evan (Bri) Witul and Gregory (Mary) Witul. He was also survived by 8 great nieces and nephews and many cousins and friends.
Ed received his B.A. in Music from the University at Buffalo and his M.A. in Music, specializing in choral conducting, from the University of Tennessee. He began his vocation as a Church Organist at just 15 years old and went on to serve as Organist and Choir Director for numerous parishes within the Diocese of Buffalo, most recently retiring from Our Lady Help of Christians in Cheektowaga, NY.
In addition to his parish work, Ed dedicated many years to music education, teaching in several Catholic Schools throughout the Diocese and later retiring from the Buffalo Public Schools. He was a past member of the American Guild of Organists, National Association of Pastoral Musicians, American Choral Directors Association, and the American Choral Foundation, and a past officer and board member of the Church Musicians Guild of Buffalo. Ed also served as Choral Director of the Bavarian Singers of Buffalo and the Polish Singing Circle (Koło), and was currently serving as Choral Director of the Kalina Singing Society. He was honored as the Am-Pol Eagle Citizen of the Year in Music in 1986.
Family will be present Friday, December 12th from 2-7 PM at the PIETSZAK FUNERAL HOME, 2400 William St. Cheektowaga, NY. Relatives and friends are invited to assemble for a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Help of Christians Church (4125 Union Road) Saturday, December 13th at Noon.
