Angel “Compaito” Luis Maldonado, 84, of Lockport, passed away November 17, 2025. Born October 1, 1941, in Humacao, Puerto Rico.
Angel was raised in Puerto Rico by his beloved grandmother, an experience that instilled in him an appreciation for style and presentation. He was known for his impeccably shiny shoes and jewelry, with a keen sense for fashion. He had a particular love for collecting hats and glasses, with cowboy hats being his favorite. Growing up, Angel was passionate about training and riding horses.
In 1967, Angel relocated to the Lockport area for work, where he grew his family. Later, upon returning to Puerto Rico, he was fortunate enough to meet his life partner of 35 years, Carmina. He was a man who knew how to enjoy life, often sharing a good laugh and a cold beer. Following the devastation of the island by hurricane Maria, Angel and Carmina relocated back to Lockport in 2018. He lived out his final years surrounded by his loving children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who adored him dearly. Angel’s memory and love continue to be felt deeply by all who knew him.

Beloved father of Maria “Rosita” Maldonado- Roman, Luis Angelo (Michelle) Maldonado, Carmencita Morales-Maldonado, Angela (Omar) Allende, Marilu Maldonado, Maria (Vidal) Figueroa-Maldonado and late Joseph Maldonado and Camelia “Tata” Molina- Maldonado. Cherished grandfather Juan (Marybeth) Roman, Angel Roman, Samantha Roman, Angelo Maldonado, Carlos Roman, Niko Morales, Luisa Morales, Primavera “Mimi” (Anthony) Abella, Omalito (Taylor) Allende, Naili (Joseph) Klimek, Gabriella Molina, Gervacio Maldonado, Selena Maldonado, Wilmaris Morales, Lissette Morales, Melissa Figuroa, James Moreno Maldonado, Janielee Vazquez Maldonado, Julia Moreno Maldonado, and Jorge Moreno Maldonado. Dear brother of Carmen Ayale and Rafael Moldonado. Also survived by many great grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Thursday November 20, 2025 from 4-7 at the Taylor & Reynolds Funeral Home, 70 Niagara Street, Lockport NY, where the Funeral service will be held Friday November 21st at 11:00 am.
Interment in Cold Springs Cemetery.
