Josephine “Josie” Young, 79, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away peacefully on October 25, 2025. Born in Nottingham, England, Josie was the beloved daughter of the late Vincent J. DelGobbo and Ida Vera (Gretton) DelGobbo. She entered the world while her father was stationed overseas, and soon after, the family settled in Niagara Falls, where Josie graduated from Niagara Falls High School.

Following graduation, Josie’s adventurous spirit led her to travel extensively throughout Europe, and across the United States. She eventually made her home in Los Angeles, CA, where she married and had her two children before moving to Athens, OH, where she lovingly raised her two sons and farmed with her family on 114 acres from 1991 to 2005. Later, she returned to Niagara Falls to be closer to her cherished siblings.

A woman of many passions, Josie was a talented artist and excellent cook. Her love for travel was matched only by her devotion to all animals. She was deeply engaged in political activism and government protests, always standing up for what she believed in, peace and justice.

Josie also found great joy in supporting local bands, cross-country skiing with her club, and embracing the beauty of nature. Her free spirit, compassion, and fierce love for her family will be forever remembered.

Josie is survived by her children, David (Molly) Young and Danny (Maja Blanusa) Young; her siblings, Tony (Nancy Cimbal) DelGobbo, Peter (Molly) DelGobbo, Ricky (Linda) DelGobbo; her half-siblings, Patricia (Steve) Fatourous, Mary Baillargeon, Chuck (Justine) DelGobbo and Michael (Sherri) DelGobbo; her former husband, Ronald Young, as well as many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two brothers, David (late Betty) DelGobbo and John DelGobbo.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 29 from 3:00–6:00 PM at M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where services will follow at 6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings in Josie’s name may be made to Heifer International (heifer.org), in efforts to end hunger and poverty in a sustainable way by supporting local farmers and their communities.
