Fifty-nine (59) of the 60 combined Canisius men’s and women’s basketball games during the 2025-26 regular-season are scheduled to be broadcast live on ESPN+, the Canisius athletic department announced Thursday.

A total of 27 Canisius women’s basketball regular-season games will appear on the ESPN+ platform, starting with the 2025-26 home opener on Nov. 7 when the Golden Griffins play host to Eastern Michigan in a game that will be shown live ESPN+. The only scheduled women’s basketball game that will not appear on an ESPN network this season will be the team’s season-opener Nov. 4, at Michigan (Big10 Network+). For the first time in program history, all Canisius’ 31 men’s basketball regular-season contests will be aired on ESPN+, starting Nov. 4 at Dayton. To view the entire men’s basketball schedule with broadcast network information, CLICK HERE.

“The Voice of the Griffs” Jay Moran will return as the primary play-by-play voice for both the men’s and women’s basketball teams on ESPN+, where he will once again be joined by color analyst, Richard Walsh 79. The 2025-26 season will mark the 11th year where the athletic department’s digital media staff will produce live game coverage to be aired through the ESPN digital platform.

Additionally, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and ESPN announced its “Wild Card” schedule on Thursday, which is five pre-determined dates that will feature live MAAC basketball action on ESPNU. Of those five dates, four are designated for men’s basketball games and one (Jan. 29) will be a women’s basketball game. On the predetermined days, Canisius’ women are scheduled to play at Marist (Jan. 29), while the men’s team will play home against Marist (Jan. 30), at Quinnopiac (Feb. 5), at Rider (Feb. 20) and home against Quinnipiac (March 1).

The MAAC office will announce the “Wildcard game” 10 days prior to the scheduled contest. The wildcard format allows ESPN to pick any game scheduled for that specific date to air on ESPNU, giving the flexibility to showcase the best match ups as the season progresses.

Canisius also announced Thursday that there will no longer be audio-only broadcast coverage for the men’s basketball team.
