Sandra “Sandy” Genovese, 90, of Lewiston, NY, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at Mt. St. Mary’s Hospital. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the cherished daughter of the late Joseph “Peppy” and Mildred (DeLuca) Alvarez.
Raised in Niagara Falls, Sandy graduated from Niagara Falls High School and married the love of her life, Joseph Genovese, on November 14, 1953. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised their two beloved sons.
Sandy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose greatest joy came from being together with her family during gatherings. She also enjoyed cooking. In addition to her many roles at home, Sandy was also an intricate part of the family business, Genovese Brothers Carpet Cleaning.
Along with her husband, Joseph, of 72 years, she is survived by her sons, Peter (Cheryl) Genovese and David Genovese; her grandchildren, Joseph (Melissa) Genovese and Kristen (Keith) Bajor; and her great-grandchildren, Gracie, Giuliana, Raffaela, and Dylan. She is also lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. She was predeceased by her sisters, Ann (late Joseph) Putaski and Delores (late Joseph) Adriatico.
Sandy’s family wishes to thank the staff of Mt. St. Mary’s Hospital for their care and compassion, and to Sandy’s caregiver, Vicky, for her love and support.
Visitation will be on Friday, October 24 from 3-7 PM at M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will begin on Saturday, October 25, at 9:15 AM, followed by Sandy’s Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Prince of Peace Church, 1055 N.
