In conjunction with the National Collegiate Acrobatics and Tumbling Association (NCATA), the Canisius acrobatics and tumbling program and head coach Mel Goulding announced the Golden Griffins’ inaugural schedule for the 2026 season today (Oct. 21).
Canisius will host its first event on Feb. 22, when the Blue and Gold entertains Buffalo State at the Koessler Athletic Center. That event will start at 1 p.m. The Griffs are also set to host Quinnipiac on March 15 and Gannon on April 9 as part of their first season of competition.
The Griffs will travel to the state of West Virginia for a pair of road events, starting March 1 at Wheeling. On March 4, the Griffs will compete at West Liberty. Canisius’ final road contest of the season will take place March 20 at Buffalo State, where the Griffs will take part in a tri-meet with host Buffalo State and Mary Hardin-Baylor. Mary Hardin-Baylor is the three-time defending NCATA Division III national champions.
“This inaugural season’s schedule release marks a historic moment for Canisius University, our acrobatics and tumbling program and for every young woman who dares to trailblaze,” Goulding said. “Our schedule represents more than just competition dates. It is a celebration of courage, growth and the beginning of a legacy for Canisius acrobatics and tumbling. We cannot wait to proudly represent Canisius and set the tone for our program. Go Griffs!”
The top-eight teams in the NCATA receive an automatic berth into the 2026 NCATA National Championship, scheduled to be held April 23-26. Individuals from teams that fail to qualify for the championship events can still qualify for nationals.
