
The University at Buffalo women’s tennis team earned a pair of victories on Sunday as they defeated Binghamton 7-0 before taking down Saint Francis (PA) 6-1 at Miller Tennis Center on Sunday.
In the first match of the day, the Bulls swept the doubles point as Deanne Choo and Sarah Hartel won 6-4 at first doubles, Liv Roestel and Sofia Zagumennova rolled to a 6-1 win at second doubles and Julia Laspro and Blanca Berges dominated in a 6-0 victory at third.
The Bulls then swept singles action as Maria Glowacka overcame a dropped first set to win 3-6, 6-1, 11-9 at first singles and then the rest of the lineup won in straight sets as Hartel won 6-3, 6-1 at second singles, Laspro picked up a 6-2, 6-0 victory at the third position, Zagumennova cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win at fourth singles, Choo also rolled with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at fifth singles and Roestel won 6-0, 6-2 at the sixth position.
In the night match against Saint Francis, the Red Flash took the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead in the match, but it was all Bulls from there as UB took five of six singles matches. Senior Esmee Andresen won 6-2, 6-4 at first singles, Hartel picked up a 6-0, 7-5 win at second singles, Zagumennova won 6-3, 6-1 at fifth singles and Choo cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 victory at sixth singles. Glowacka and Laspro both overcame a dropped set to win their matches in third set tiebreakers.
Up next, Buffalo will host the UB Indoor Invite at Miller Tennis Center October 31-November 1.
