Joseph P. Leone, 81 of Sun Lakes, AZ passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025 at Dobson Hospice of the Valley in Chandler, Arizona. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, Joseph was the son of the late Joseph and Yvonne Leone.  

Joseph graduated from Niagara Falls High School  and graduated from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. He went on to have careers working for the New York State Substance Abuse and Prevention Division and was a founding member of the  Department of Homeland Security Bureau of Customs and Border Protection as a Immigration Officer, dedicated to preventing terrorist attacks within the United States. Joseph took pride in his career.  

On April 29, 1967, Joseph married Janet (Militello) Leone at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Together, they shared nearly 38 years of marriage, building a life with their two children Jocelyn (Leone) O’Sullivan and Janelle (Leone) Berger. Joseph enjoyed spending time time with his family camping and fishing in Canada. He found happiness teaching Karate, Tae Kwon Do where he became third degree black belts, signifying his mastery and dedication to the Martial Arts. Joseph was a man of hard work, discipline and kindness.  

Joseph Leone is survived by his children Janelle (Leone) Berger and Jocelyn (Leone) O’Sullivan their mother, Janet Leone; grandchildren Tara Berger, Sam Berger, Catherine O’Sullivan, Victoria O’Sullivan and James O’Sullivan. He was predeceased by his sister Danilene (Leone) Foehl.
