Canisius freshman forward Gabriel Leslie was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Rookie of the Week, league officials announced Monday.
The St. Cloud, Fla., native tallied the game-winning goal, his third goal of the season, in the 38th minute of the Golden Griffins 2-1 victory over Quinnipiac Oct. 11. With three goals, Leslie ranks second on the team in points this season, totaling six points.
Canisius (4-6-1, 2-3-0 MAAC) returns to action Oct. 18 as the team heads to Fairfield, Conn. to take on Sacred Heart in a MAAC contest. Opening kickoff between the Griffs and Pioneers is slated for noon at Park Ave Field and will be streamed live on ESPN+.
