Cosmo A. Commisso, 94, of the Town of Niagara, NY, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2025. Born in Siderno, Marina Reggio, Calabria, Italy, he was the beloved son of the late Frank and Rose (Gerace) Commisso.
As a young boy, Cosmo immigrated with his family to Niagara Falls, NY, and became a United States citizen in 1944. He graduated from Niagara Falls High School and proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War, receiving his honorable discharge in 1954.
Cosmo dedicated over 32 years of service as a chemical operator at E.I. DuPont Co. in Niagara Falls. He was a man of deep faith and community, a longtime member of St. Leo’s Church, and a devoted member of the Knights of Columbus and the ISDA Volare Lodge. His leadership and camaraderie extended to his roles as former president of the Casale Social Club and the Hyde Park Bocce League, where he was a proud member of many championship-winning teams.
Cosmo found joy in playing euchre, tending to his garden and fig trees, and celebrating his Italian heritage through winemaking, cooking, and crafting his famously delicious soppressata. His legacy is one of warmth, tradition, and devotion, especially to his cherished family who were the heart of his world.
Cosmo is survived by his children, Christopher (late Darla) Commisso, Maria (Andrew) Martin and Paul Commisso; his grandchildren, Kelli Commisso, Shawn Commisso, Carrie Commisso, Andrew (Stephanie) Martin, Katy (Alex) Rieske and Amanda (Brent) Feuz; his great-grandchildren, Robert, Sloane, Parker, Maxwell, Zoey, Sam, Jayden and Elora; three siblings, Josephine (Nicholas) Ieraci, Mary (late Richard) Lawton and Lina (late Stephen) Voutour, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Frances Commisso.
