Canisius senior goaltender Chase Clark and senior forward Grant Porter were both recognized as Atlantic Hockey America announced its weekly award winners on Tuesday.
Both players were honored after they helped the Golden Griffins kickoff the 2025-26 campaign last weekend with a sweep of North Country foes Clarkson and St. Lawrence at LECOM Harborcenter.
A native of Williamsville, N.Y., Clark was tabbed the league’s Goaltender of the Week after posting a .956 save percentage and a 1.50 goals against average in his first two games in a Canisius uniform. Against the nationally ranked Golden Knights on Oct. 3, he stopped 31-of-32 shots faced to help propel the Griffs to a 3-1 victory. Clark closed out the weekend with a 34-save effort in a 4-2 triumph against the Saints on Oct. 5.
Porter, meanwhile, garnered AHA Forward of the Week accolades after he notched two goals and an assist to pace a balanced Canisius attack that saw six different players score a goal and 13 different skaters record a point. The Weston, Mass., product fashioned the third multiple-point performance of his career with a goal and an assist in the season-opening victory against Clarkson before closing out the weekend with the final goal in the win against St. Lawrence.
Canisius, off to its first 2-0-0 start to a season since the 1998-99 campaign, returns to action this weekend as it hosts LIU in a non-conference series at LECOM Harborcenter. Puck drop for both games of the Oct. 10-11 series between the Griffs and the Sharks is slated for 7 p.m.
Tickets for both games are still available. They can be purchased by visiting the tickets page on GoGriffs.com, calling 716-888-TIXX or by visiting the ticket kiosk at LECOM Harborcenter on gameday.
