Walter “Wes” Confer III, 55, of Wheatfield, NY, passed away unexpectedly on October 2, 2025 in Wheatfield, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, Wes was the beloved son of Roberta “Bobbie” (née Twoco) (late Matthew) Rutkowski and the late Walter Confer Jr., and the cherished stepson of Danny Fracassi Sr.

Raised in Niagara Falls, Wes graduated from the former LaSalle Senior High School before proudly serving his country in the United States Army. Enlisting in 1988, he completed two active duty tours during the Gulf War and was honorably discharged in 1992. His service was recognized with numerous medals and ribbons, including the Southwest Asia Service Medal and two Bronze Service Stars, reflecting his courage and commitment.

Wes was a man of quiet passions and deep intellect. He was an avid reader and a devoted book collector, always seeking knowledge and insight. He found joy in physical fitness and treasured time spent with his family, whose love and companionship meant the world to him.

In addition to his mother and stepfather, Wes is survived by his brother, Danny (Gina) Fracassi Jr.; his niece, Mia Fracassi; and his nephew, Anthony “AJ” Fracassi. He also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In accordance with Wes’s wishes, private funeral services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Veteran’s Hospital of Buffalo, 3495 Bailey Ave, Buffalo, NY 14215, in honor of his service and dedication.
