KALAMAZOO, MI – The University at Buffalo women’s tennis team competed at the Mid-American Conference Fall Tennis Championships this weekend, hosted by Western Michigan.

The Bulls played great tennis, highlighted by Esmee Andresen’s run to the semifinals in the singles draw and as well as Andresen and Glowacka’s semifinal run in the doubles bracket.

Andresen overcame a dropped first set to defeat Ball State’s Priyanka Rana 1-6, 6-4, 6-1 before taking down Northern Illinois’ Irmak Budak 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 to set up a semi-final match with Toledo’s Isabella Barretto, where she fought hard but ultimately dropped a three-set heartbreaker 4-6, 6-4, 6-7(6). Also competing in the singles bracket was Glowacka, who defeated Eastern Michigan’s Matilde Parreira in the opening round before falling to Bowling Green’s Tia Clemons in the quarterfinals.

In the doubles draw, Andresen and Glowacka defeated Toledo 8-6 and NIU 8-5 before dropping a close semifinal match to Ball State, 8-6. Also in the doubles draw were Deanne Choo and Sarah Hartel who dropped their opening match to Toledo before responding with a hard-fought win over Ball State in a consolation match.

Up next, Buffalo will have a week off before returning to action on Sunday, October 19 with a doubleheader against Binghamton and Saint Francis (PA).
