Emedio D. “Dedo” Mariano, 92, a proud lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully at his residence on September 30, 2025.Born in Niagara Falls, he was the son of the late Angelo and Nancy (D’Amico) Mariano.
Dedo was a graduate of Trott Vocational High School, where he excelled as a member of the football team. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served as a Medic in Korea and Japan during the Korean Conflict from 1953 until his honorable discharge in 1954. On December 1, 1979, he married Angela L. (Baltera) Mariano at St. Leo’s Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Together they shared a loving marriage of nearly 46 years.
Dedo was employed for over 50 years as a bricklayer with the Bricklayer’s Local #3 of Niagara Falls and Buffalo, as well as the Bricklayers International Union of Washington, DC. He took great pride in his craft and his union membership. Even after a work accident forced his retirement, he remained deeply proud of his trade, his military service, and his roots growing up on 18th Street in Niagara Falls—memories he often shared through his storytelling.
He was a member of the Cristoforo Colombo Society, an avid hunter, and a devoted Buffalo Bills fan. Known for his jovial spirit, quick wit, and ability to make friends wherever he went, Dedo most cherished the time he spent surrounded by his family.
In addition to his beloved wife, Angela, he is survived by his step-children, Sandra (James) Bordonaro and Leo (Helen) Senese; step-grandchildren, Peter (Samantha) Bordonaro, Daniel Bordonaro (fiancée Madison Bateman), Domenic Senese (fiancée Hailey Perri), and Steven Senese (fiancée Samantha Crone); step-great-grandchildren, Vivian, Paul, and Nicholas; his sister, Susan Gassner; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
