Angelo R. “Ducky” Fera, 88, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully at home on August 30, 2025, surrounded by loving family.
Born and raised in Niagara Falls, Ducky was the son of the late Angelo R. Sr. and Philomena (Cusimano) Fera. On September 14, 1957, he married the love of his life, Carmella (Petrone) Fera. Carmella sadly predeceased him on April 26,1992. At 17, he enlisted in the Army National Guard, serving for eight years until his honorable discharge.
Ducky’s lifelong career in the food industry began at the Como Restaurant in 1962. He went on to manage multiple Como Delis, later the Goose’s Roost, and even created the famous Como House Italian Salad Dressing recipe. After 18 years at the Goose’s Roost, he returned to manage the Como Deli on Pine Avenue, where he became a familiar and friendly face to so many.
Outside of work, Ducky’s greatest joy was family. He was a longtime member of the St. Joseph Choir and the White Falcons Dance Club, where he sang, danced, and shared life with his companion, June O’Connor. He loved making homemade pasta, sauce, soups, and pies, tending to his roses, bowling in local leagues, sharing breakfast at Mike’s, and evening card games with loved ones.
Above all, Ducky was proud of his children and grandchildren. He loved them deeply, cherished every moment together, and will be remembered as a truly good man. His family will forever carry his spirit, and as he always told them, “I love you 10 million.”
He is survived by his daughters Gina (Philip) Friona and Marisa (Dennis) Gagliardo; grandchildren Angela Friona (Ron Novel), Farrah Friona, Dennis Gagliardo, and Marra Gagliardo; great-grandson Jayce Philip Novel; his companion June O’Connor; his best friends Gus Mangione, Joe D’Angelo, and Tony Chiappone, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his wife of 34 years, he was predeceased by his siblings Violet (Albert) Proietti, Joseph (Rosemary) Fera, Dominic (Jeanette) Fera, Eugene (Caroline) Fera, Caroline (Michael) Gagliano, Mafalda “Muffy” (John) Sgro, William Fera, and Al “Alfie” (Beverly) Fera. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Patricia (late Walter) Pfohl.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to DaVita Dialysis, Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, and Niagara Hospice for their kindness and care.
