Betty Miller, 95, of Niagara Falls, NY, entered into the loving arms of Jesus on August 28, 2025. Born in Altoona, PA, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Erma (Stitt) Smith.
Betty was raised in Altoona, where she graduated from high school. On October 19, 1948, she married her devoted husband, Durrell G. Miller. Together, they moved to Niagara Falls where they lovingly raised their three children.
She lived a life grounded by faith, generosity and joy. She worked for many years as a CNA at Niagara Geriatrics until her retirement. She opened her heart and home as a foster parent, giving many children a safe and nurturing place filled with love. She enjoyed many adventures with her friends from the Red Hat Society, was an avid quilter who sent countless quilts to children in Africa, and was an active member of her church community. Her love for the Buffalo Bills reflected her vibrant personality, making games a joy to watch with her.
Above all, Betty cherished the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family will forever remember the joy of simply being with her.
Betty is survived by her children, Durrell (Synthia) Miller, Doreen (Robert) Sawyer, and David (Jennifer) Miller; her grandchildren, Robert (Tamara) Holtz, Stacey (John) Schulz, Emory Miller, Joshua (Jaclyn) Miller, Devin Miller, Jena Powers, Dylan Miller, Beau Miller, Sandra (John) Okiec, and Robert Sawyer; fourteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; her brother, Richard (late Patricia) Smith, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Betty was predeceased by her sisters, Marie Smith and Patty (late Marvin) Boyles.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 2, from 4- 8 PM at M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where Betty’s funeral service will begin on Wednesday at 11:00 AM, followed by interment at Memorial Park Cemetery in Lewiston, NY.
