David James Werley, Sr., 54, of Bergholtz, in Wheatfield, NY, was called to his heavenly home on August 23, 2025 while at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Buffalo, NY. Born October 24, 1970 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Douglas and Mary (Cronos) Werley. 

David earned his Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice, and was employed as a life insurance agent for many years prior to becoming disabled. David was in the United States Army and United States National Guard. A combat veteran, he proudly served in Desert Storm, and Operation Freedom during the Gulf War. Following his honorable discharge, he received the National Defense Service Medal, Army Lapel, and the Southwest Asia Medal with a Bronze Star. David enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping, with his son and family.

David is survived by his son, David (Samantha) Werley, Jr. of Niagara Falls; two sisters, Cynthia (Henry DePadre) Werley, and Donna (Karl) Thomas; one nephew, Anthony (Rebecca) Previte; one niece, Kayla Previte, as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, great-nieces, and friends. 

Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 27 from 4 – 8 PM at M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will begin on Thursday, August 28 at 10:00 AM. Interment with Military honors will follow in Wheatfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Type 1 Diabetes Foundation or the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Buffalo, NY.
