With deep love, we celebrate the life and legacy of EMMA C. BOYD, who entered eternal rest on August 10, 2025. Emma lived a life marked by service, joy, and devotion to both God and family.
Born on April 24, 1939, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, to the late Allen Lindsey and Carrie Hairston, Emma relocated to Buffalo, New York during her youth. She received her early education at Buffalo Public School #47 and graduated from East High School.
Emma was no stranger to hard work. She built a strong professional legacy through her roles at Markel Electric, Trico Products, and ultimately retired from Science First.
A faithful and longtime member of Friendship Baptist Church, Emma served faithfully on Usher Board #2 for over 30 years.
Emma also knew how to enjoy life. She loved to dance, had a passion for BINGO, was an avid bowler, and found her greatest joy in being a mother and grandmother.
She leaves behind a loving legacy through her only daughter, Trina Whitmore (Cornell); her cherished grandchildren, Calvin and Cortina; and her adored great-grandchildren, Nathaniel, Matthew, and Makayla. She is also survived by her cousin, raised as a brother, Curtis Hairston (late Jennifer), and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and devoted friends.
Emma was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved granddaughter Catherine, and other loved ones who now welcome her home in glory.
Her life was a beautiful example of grace, resilience, and unconditional love. Though her physical presence will be missed beyond words, her memory will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
The family will receive friends Monday, August 18, 2025, 10 AM at Friendship Baptist Church, 402 Clinton Street, Buffalo, New York 14204. Funeral to follow at 11 AM. Interment Ridge Lawn Cemetery.
