MaryAnn Vitagliano, 85, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2025, at Buffalo General Hospital, surrounded by her cherished family. Born in Niagara Falls, she was the daughter of Julio and Marie Rose (Paonessa) Maselli. On May 17, 1958, she married Gerald “Jerry” Vitagliano at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Niagara Falls. Jerry predeceased her on August 29, 2024 after 66 wonderful years of marriage.
MaryAnn was a 1957 graduate of Niagara Falls High School. She began working as a bank teller at Niagara County Savings Bank during high school and continued her career with dedication, retiring from Bank of America in 2005.
MaryAnn and Jerry built a life rich with tradition, laughter, and love. A devout parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, she was an active member and treasurer in the Holy Family Altar and Rosary Society, faithfully served as a mass greeter and was part of the offering counting team. She was also a member of the Hyde Park Bocce Club, where she created many lasting friendships.
MaryAnn was a social soul who never missed a chance to share a good story or laugh. She cherished the many memories made with her Woodlawn Avenue family on her front porch. She found joy in travel, spending winters in Daytona Beach with her husband and their circle of friends, as well as trips to Italy and across the United States. MaryAnn was also a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees and Buffalo Bills.
Above all, MaryAnn adored her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life, and she never missed a chance to remind them of her love with her favorite saying: “I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck.”
MaryAnn is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth (Louie) Zaninovich, Karen (Steve) Fuller, Patricia (Chris) McCune and Julianne (John) Galie; her grandchildren, Michele (Kris) Proietti, Lauren Zaninovich, Christina (Andrew) Atkinson, Anthony (Erika) Fuller, Jenna McCune (Lauren DeVantier), Christopher (Madison) McCune, Vincent Galie (fiance Angela Calvello), Leah Galie and Grace Galie; her great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Arya, Zoey, Avery and Adalynn; one sister, Margaret (Thomas) Conibear; her brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Fred (Sue) Vitagliano and Margaret Hojnacki, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by her lifelong friend, Nancy Mariano, whom she shared many laughs and adventures with. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother-in-law Robert (late JoAnn) Vitagliano.
We would like to extend a special thank you to MaryAnn’s caregivers who were with her every day and became part of our family. You are truly angels and we are forever grateful.
