Chester P. Gromek, was born on Saturday, October 2, 1926, and passed away on April 29, 2025. 

A WWII Army Veteran, Chester was a Technician Fifth Grade at the Headquarters Company Continental Base Section. He was the recipient of the Army Occupation Medal and World War II Victory Medal. Chester was a member of the former American Legion Adam Plewacki Post and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Leonard Post, Jr. Post. and the former SS. Peter & Paul Athletic Club.

Chet was a retired Draftsman from Worthington Pump, where he designed pumps for high efficiency, reliability, configuration versatility, long service life, and low cost of ownership, and he worked there for over 40 years. 

In his spare time, Chester enjoyed reading, keeping abreast with the daily news by watching Fox News, and going for walks with his family at Reinstein Park to see the Turkeys resting in the trees. At home, he was the Master of the Vacuum Cleaner, knowing all of its ins and outs.

Chester was the beloved husband of 67 years to the love of his life, his wife, the former Melanie “Molly” Grabowski, who always told him “I LOVE YOU” and was the devoted father to Sandra Gromek and Samson. 

A loving grandfather to Karma, Ubie, Lola, Ellie, and Winston.

He was the dearest brother to the late John (late Helen) Gromek, late Edward (late Jean) Gromek, late Joseph (late Celeste) Gromek, late Stanley (late Rita) Gromek, late Mary (late Leonard) Bartlomiejczak, and the late Dorothy (late George) Dixon. As well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins who also survive him.

Relatives and friends are invited to assemble for a Mass of Christian Burial at Queen of Martyrs Church, located at 180 George Urban Blvd., in Cheektowaga, New York 14225, on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at “a time to be announced”

Inurnment will follow in St. Matthew’s Cemetery in West Seneca, New York.
