Gary P. Spuller, 70, of Holly Springs, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home on April 10, 2025, after a fulfilling life devoted to his family, friends, and community. He fell asleep in the loving arms of Jesus Christ, surrounded by family. Born on August 30, 1954, in Niagara Falls, New York, Gary was the third son of the late Earl E. Spuller and Rosalie J. (Napoleone) Spuller.
He is survived by—and will be forever remembered by—his three children: Richard (Alison) Spuller of Apex, NC; Daniel (Laura) Spuller of Arlington, VA; and Sara (Blake) Johnson of Jupiter, FL. He is also remembered by their mother, Jacqueline, and his longtime partner, Tina Cappa Smith of Holly Springs. He took great joy in spending time with his four grandchildren: Lily, Jack, Carter, and Nicholas.
Gary was one of four siblings who remained close throughout life. He is survived by his brothers, James (Kathleen) Spuller of Grand Island and Robert (Linda) Spuller of Niagara Falls, as well as his sister, Carol (late Gary) Stephens of Niagara Falls. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews whom he loved dearly.
A graduate of Bishop Duffy High School (1972) and Buffalo State College (1976), Gary was a devoted parishioner at several Catholic churches in Niagara Falls throughout his life, including St. Joseph’s, Sacred Heart, and St. John de LaSalle. During the 1990s, he devoted his time to Boy Scout Troop 841 and the Knights of Columbus.
In 1999, Gary moved his family from Niagara Falls to the Raleigh, North Carolina area, where he continued a successful career in the home building supply sales industry, became active in Kiwanis International, and remained engaged in civic and community life.
A lifelong Buffalo Bills fan, Gary cherished hosting friends for Sunday football. For the past ten years, he enjoyed his semi-retirement working as an usher at Raleigh’s PNC Arena and with the Holly Springs Salamanders baseball team, where he greeted friends and fans with warmth and a familiar smile. He was also a volunteer at his grandchildren’s elementary school.
He was loved and respected by all who knew him. His family invites all who knew him to carry forward his spirit of kindness, generosity, and joy in their own lives.
