NORTH TONAWANDA – Tom Krantz, a lifelong resident of North Tonawanda, has announced his candidacy for Mayor of North Tonawanda. With over 30 years of experience in public service, including serving as the city’s Police Chief, Krantz is committed to bringing common sense, collaboration, and a focus on community to the mayoral office.
“I’ve worked in North Tonawanda for over three decades, and I have never seen our city so divided,” said Krantz. “Regardless of how you voted in the last election, it’s clear that people want a return to calm, rational leadership. I believe it’s time for us to stop the bickering and finger-pointing and start working together for the good of our community.”
Krantz, who graduated from North Tonawanda High School and holds a degree in Police Science, has a background in law enforcement, serving as a corrections officer for three years before dedicating 31 years to the North Tonawanda Police Department, including serving as its chief.
Krantz is married to Kim Krantz, who teaches computer skills to students in the North Tonawanda School District, and they are proud parents of three children: Drew, Yanni, and Tori.
“I’m not interested in running for higher office or getting caught up in partisan politics,” Krantz explained. “My focus is on safe neighborhoods, clean streets, and creating development opportunities that attract new families and jobs, all while keeping taxes low. I believe in open-minded, fair leadership and in listening to the concerns of our community members and the advice of our department heads.”
Krantz’s vision for North Tonawanda includes fostering a spirit of cooperation and finding middle ground between all sides. “No one side is always right, and no one side is always wrong. We cannot continue with this ‘us vs. them’ mentality. I will prioritize collaboration and work to unite our city for the greater good.”
As Krantz ramps up his campaign in the coming months, he plans to share more of his ideas and goals for the city. “As a retired police chief, I have always been a public servant, working to serve the best interests of the people. I will do the same as your mayor.”
