Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane announces that Dominique Singletary, 29, of Buffalo, was sentenced yesterday morning before State Supreme Court Justice Debra Givens to 12 ½ years in prison followed by 5 years of post-release supervision.
On Saturday, June 1, 2024, at approximately 2:30 a.m., the defendant intentionally fired multiple shots from an illegal weapon at the victims during an altercation on the 1100 block of Elmwood Avenue in the City of Buffalo. Three adult males were injured by gunfire. The victims were treated at ECMC. One victim suffered serious physical injuries, and the other two victims suffered non-life threatening injuries.
On July 2024, the defendant was found in Maryland by the US Marshals Service Maryland Fugitive Task Force where he was arrested on the indictment warrant. He was returned to Western New York to face prosecution after waiving extradition proceedings.
Singletary pleaded guilty to three counts of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree (Class “B” violent felonies), the highest counts of the indictment, on December 15, 2024.
DA Keane commends the Buffalo Police Department Gun Violence Unit and the US Marshals Service for their work in this investigation.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Frank A. Strano of the Major Crimes Bureau and Assistant District Attorney Thomas J. Comfort of the Felony Trials Bureau.
