LOCKPORT — Niagara County District Attorney Brian D. Seaman announced that disbarred attorney Nicholas D’Angelo has plead guilty to an additional felony in Niagara County Court. D’Angelo plead guilty to Attempted Tampering with Public Records in the First Degree. D’Angelo admitted that he made a campaign contribution to a judge’s campaign committee fraudulently in an attempt to get State Board of Elections records to reflect a fake contribution. D’Angelo faces up to 6 months of weekends in jail when he returns to court for sentencing.

Seaman stated: “This was an orchestrated effort by the defendant to subvert the prosecution of a criminal case against him. If he wasn’t already disbarred this conviction would have immediately resulted in the loss of his law license. I would have liked to push for a more serious prison term, but to do so in this case would have “satisfied” the probation sentence in his sex offense case by operation of law. Even a short prison sentence would have the effect of relieving the defendant of sex offender probation. The defendant will face some additional county jail time however.”

The case was investigated by the New York State Police with assistance from the United States Postal Inspection Service and FBI, and was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Rob Zucco.
