Niagara County Joseph A. Jastrzemski today said he and others were proven right when they opposed New York’s Greenlight Law that allows illegal immigrants to obtain drivers’ licenses.  Jastrzemski was interviewed for a Daily Caller article that discussed federal indictments by the Department of Justice against several individuals who were allegedly involved in a conspiracy to help more than 1000 people fraudulently apply for driver’s licenses, most of whom were living in the United States unlawfully.   Jastrzemski went to court over the issue when it was passed by the New York State Legislature and repeatedly said the measure was bad public policy that would encourage fraud and be a threat to security.

Jastrzemski told the Daily Caller, “When this law was put in place, people like myself, along with law enforcement and immigration enforcement such as [Immigration and Customs Enforcement], all stated that this was a potential security threat because they didn’t have immediate access to the (DMV) information and it also offered a pathway for those looking to commit fraud and to participate in illegal activity such as this.  Although I’m very happy to see that the ring has been broken up, it makes you wonder how many people were able to slip through with similar schemes.”
