Today’s national average price for a gallon of gasoline is $3.45, no change from last Monday. One year ago, the price was $3.58. The New York State average is $3.60, down two cents from last Monday. A year ago, the NYS average was $3.69. AAA Western and Central New York (AAA WCNY) reports the following averages:

  • Batavia – $3.56 (no change from last Monday)
  • Buffalo – $3.61 (no change from last Monday)
  • Rochester – $3.62 (down 2 cents from last Monday)

Gasoline prices held steady at the national level while continuing to fall in New York, with the average for a gallon of regular down two cents from last week to $3.60. Oil prices have barely budged over the last seven days, trading in the upper $70s to low $80s per barrel this morning. According to new data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gas demand rose slightly last week while total domestic gasoline stocks jumped up. Steady oil prices, tepid demand, and increasing supply are the formula for gas prices to keep falling as summer arrives.

Diesel prices are also moving down. The national average price for diesel is $3.77, down two cents from last Monday. The New York average is $4.26, down two cents from last Monday.
