Today’s national average price for a gallon of gasoline is $3.53, down six cents from last Monday. One year ago, the price was $3.56. The New York State average is $3.65, down two cents from last Monday. A year ago, the NYS average was $3.70. AAA Western and Central New York (AAA WCNY) reports the following averages:

  • Batavia – $3.61 (down 1 cent from last Monday)
  • Buffalo – $3.64 (no change from last Monday)
  • Rochester – $3.66 (down 1 cent from last Monday)

The national average for a gallon of regular gasoline is down six cents from last week to $3.53, the largest one-week drop so far in 2024. The national average has also dipped below the average price from one year ago. New Yorkers are also seeing pump prices fall. Steady oil prices, with the cost for a barrel of oil resting in the high $70s to low $80s, and modest demand for gasoline overall is offering motorists some savings as we move into the unofficial start of summer. The latest data from the Energy Information Administration indicates gas demand is down, while supply is up slightly. 

Diesel prices are moving down. The national average price for diesel is $3.85, down two cents from last Monday. The New York average is $4.31, down three cents from last Monday.
