The national average for a gallon of regular gasoline is resting at $3.59 despite a busy holiday weekend where AAA estimates over 38 million motorists drove 50 miles or more from home. New York prices are falling for the most part, reflecting the recent national trend. Motorists are benefitting from oil prices that remain in the high 70s to low 80s per barrel. In addition, the Biden Administration decision to release 1 million barrels of gasoline from the Northeast Gasoline Supply Reserve leading up to the Fourth of July is having a regional benefit as well.
Diesel prices are moving down. The national average price for diesel is $3.86, down four cents from last Monday. The New York average is $4.33, down three cents from last Monday.
