Former Grand Island Supervisor and congressional candidate Nate McMurray confirmed earlier today on X — formerly Twitter — that he’s running for the vacated NY-26 Congressional seat.

McMurray said, “Yes. I’m running for Congress. This will be a struggle. We will start small. And build. But we need to stop Trump, And we need to help Buffalo. Be happy. Let’s have fun. Let’s do it!”

He added in a reply, “I envision Buffalo and Niagara Falls transforming into an international tourism hotspot. We can achieve this through the creation of a national park, a Yosemite-style lodge, and a light rail system. This will reconnect our region as it was a century ago, extending even beyond to Toronto.”

McMurray previously ran for the NY-27 district in 2018 and 2020. He also had a short-lived attempt to run for Erie County Executive in 2023.

He joins State Senator Tim Kennedy in the race. Kennedy announced his intentions to run in November.
