Domonic F. Falsetti M.D., 92, of Lewiston, NY passed away peacefully on Friday, January 5, 2024 at Sisters of Charity Hospital in Buffalo, NY. Born September 22, 1931 he was the son of the late Gaetano and Rachel (Bosso) Falsetti; and the beloved husband of Margaret E. (Janvary) Falsetti, who he married in 1949 at the former Our Lady of Lebanon Church in Niagara Falls, NY.

Domonic was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School and the University at Buffalo where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and his Doctor of Medicine degree. He proudly served in the United States Army National Guard until his honorable discharge in 1963.

Domonic had extensive training in General, Colon and Rectal Surgery at Mt. St. Mary’s Hospital, Detroit’s Henry Ford Hospital and Buffalo General Hospital. He was board certified in both General and Colorectal Surgery.

In 1965, he opened his practice on Main Street in Niagara Falls and would later retire in 2015. He served as the consulting surgeon at both Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center and Mt. St. Mary’s Hospital.

Spending the vast majority of his career at Mt. St. Mary’s Hospital, Dr. Falsetti held numerous positions including serving as the hospital’s Chief of Surgery from 1980 to 2001, President of the medical staff in 1982, and again in 1997 through 1999, and was the Chief Medical Officer from 2001 to 2015.

Devoted to his profession, Dr. Falsetti was a lifetime member of the Niagara County Medical Society, New York Medical Society, and the AMA. He was also a member of the Executive Committee of Niagara County for over 40 years, serving as President from 1985 to 1987.

Dr. Falsetti always thought his life was rewarding in being able to help the many patients from his home area with their health problems over his dedicated 50 years of practice.  He could not have accomplished this without the devoted help of his “LaSalle women office staff,” the many hospital nurses, who cared for his patients, the Sisters of St. Francis and Daughters of Charity, the many outstanding physicians involved in his patients care and of course the sacrifice and encouragement from his beloved wife, Margaret.

In his younger years, he was an accomplished basketball player and member of the University at Buffalo Men’s Basketball Team from 1950 to 1954. He was an avid golfer who loved playing with his close friends over the years locally and especially his Florida Rolling Hills golf group, Dr. A Grana, Dr Robert Perez and Dr. G Kartalian. He was a longtime member of the Niagara Falls Country Club since 1969, where he served on the Board of Governors from 1995 to 1997.

In addition to his wife, Margaret, of 64 years, Dr. Falsetti is survived by his son, Phillip M. Falsetti D.D.S; his granddaughter, Sarah Falsetti; his step-granddaughter Brittany (Jon Jekovich) Falcone and their son, Matthew, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews in both the United States and Canada.

Along with his parents, he was predeceased by all of his siblings, Joseph (late Elma) Falsetti, Rose (late Arthur) Gallo, Marie (late Robert) Alexander, Edward (late Barbara) Falsetti, Dr. Elizabeth (late Anthony) DiChiara and Dr. Herman (Jan) Falsetti; five nephews, Robert (Jackie) Falsetti, Robert Alexander, Edward Falsetti, Joseph DiChiara M.D. and David DiChiara and his great-nephew, John Passalacqua.
