LOCKPORT — Niagara County District Attorney Brian D. Seaman announced that Michael Hamilton, age 38, of Niagara Falls, entered a guilty plea today in County Court to the charge of Manslaughter in the First Degree. Hamilton admitted to killing 22 year old Jason Chapman outside Wedge Liquors on Pine Avenue in the Falls on July 12, 2022. Hamilton shot Chapman to death outside the store after a dispute that originated inside the store spilled out into the parking lot. Hamilton faces up to 25 years in prison when he returns to be sentenced by Judge John J. Ottaviano on January 25th of next year.

The case was investigated by the Niagara Falls Police Department and prosecuted by First Assistant District Attorney Doreen Hoffmann and Assistant District Attorney Maria Stoelting.
