Lockport will have a new mayor following Tuesday’s election results.

According to the Niagara County Board of Elections, Republican John Lombardi III took 51.89 percent of the vote (2,023 votes) compared to incumbent Democratic Mayor Michelle M. Roman’s 48.06 percent (1,874 votes). Two write-in ballots were cast.

Lombardi, owner of Lombardi Overhead Door, said he would make the mayor’s position a full-time job, even suggesting he may sell his business while in office.

On Facebook, Roman wished Lombardi — and all other candidates in the city — well, “and hope they keep Lockport moving in the positive direction we’ve begun over the past five years.”

Sue A. Mawhiney won the City Treasurer’s race uncontested, earning 2,855 votes.
