MOOSIC, PA – The Buffalo Bisons were unable to solve the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre bullpen in their 4-1 loss on Tuesday night in the opening game of their series at PNC Field.

RailRiders starter Will Warren allowed a two-out base hit to Damiano Palmegiani in the top of the first but was able to escape the inning without allowing the runner to score. The base hit extended Palmegiani’s on-base streak to all nine games he has appeared in for the Herd.

Buffalo was able to take advantage of a lead off base hit in the top of the second to score their lone run of the night. Orelvis Martinez started the frame with a base hit and moved to third on a Stevie Berman single to right-center field. Steward Berroa’s bases loaded fielder’s choice scored Martinez to give Buffalo a 1-0 lead.

Zach Thompson worked into the bottom of the sixth inning but was relieved by Hayden Juenger after facing four batters in the sixth. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre scored all four of their runs in the bottom of the frame, with all four runs charged to Thompson. Jamie Westbrook and Jake Lamb had back-to-back run scoring base hits. Westbrook’s RBI single gave the RailRiders a 2-1 lead, while Lamb’s two-run base hit ballooned the lead to 4-1.

Three Scranton/Wilkes-Barre relievers combined to allow just one hit over the final 3.1 innings against the Bisons offense. Rafael Lantigua’s lead off double against Aaron McGarity was the team’s final hit of the night.

Tanner Morris extended his on-base streak to 54 straight games with a base hit in the top of the third off of Warren. However, Buffalo would record five total hits in the loss.

There was a 25 minute delay before the top of the eighth inning due to a power outage at the ballpark. Power was restored and the final two innings were played uninterrupted.

The two teams will meet for the second game of their six-game series on Wednesday night starting at 6:35 p.m. from PNC Field.
