OLEAN, NY – The St. Bonaventure Bonnies (1-1-3) earned a 2-1 win over the Niagara Purple Eagles (1-4) Thursday night in non-conference action. Sophomore Katie Diem notched her second goal of the season in the loss.

How it Happened
After a scoreless first half the Bonnies took a 1-0 lead with a penalty kick goal in the 55th minute of action, forcing Niagara to play from behind.

The Purple and White would respond with an equalizer in the 62nd minute when Emma Bough found Diem who beat the keeper for the goal..

St. Bonaventure would send a free kick into the box in the 77th minute, heading home the goal to give the Bonnies a 2-1 advantage with 13 minutes of play remaining. 

The Purple Eagles would turn things up in the final 13 minutes, recording multiple shots, including one of the near post and a pair of shots that went over their intended target.

Niagara Notes
• Niagara has dropped to 11-21-1 all-time against St. Bonaventure.
• Five of Niagara’s 11 shots went on goal.
• Felicia Grufman made six saves in the loss.
• The Pruple Eagles recorded four corners, compared to five for Bona.
• Diem’s goal in the 62nd minute was her second of the season and third of her career.
• With her assists, Bough registered her first point of the season and 15th assist of her career.
