The Canisius golf team posted a team score of 594 to place third at the 69th edition of the Little Three Golf Championship, played Tuesday at Bartlett Country Club in Olean, N.Y. The host St. Bonaventure Bonnies won the tournament for a record-setting seventh-straight year with a score of 558, while long-time rival Niagara took second place in the field with a score of 587.

Canisius freshman Alex Schickling recorded a top-10 finish in his first collegiate event on Tuesday after he shot a two-round score of 146 to place seventh in the field. Schickling carded a four-over par score of 74 in the first round before coming back with a second-round tally of 72. Junior Mike Douglas earned his first career top-10 finish as well, as he carded a tournament score of 147, which tied him for eighth. Douglas’ one-over par score of 71 in the second round also marks his lowest single-round score as a member of the Canisius golf program.

Junior Ryan Edholm tied for 10th with his two-round score of 148, highlighted by a one-under par score of 69 in the second round. That round of 69 serves as the third career round in the 60s for Edholm, who has now shot under par in four of his last six collegiate tournament rounds, dating back to last spring’s ABARTA Coca-Cola Invitational in Easton, Pa.

St. Bonaventure’s Lance Sininger won individual medalist honors after he shot a combined score of 135, which is five-under par. Sininger shot a tournament-low 66 in the first round and then followed that up with a one-under par 69.

The Golden Griffins will return to the course Sept. 3-4 when the team travels to take part in the Red Bandanna Invitational, hosted by Boston College. That tournament will be played at the Turning Stone Resort Kaluhyat Course in Verona, N.Y.
