OLEAN — The Purple Eagles men’s golf program tee’d off the 2023-24 season at the Little Three Championship at the Bartlett Country Club in Olean Tuesday afternoon against St. Bonaventure and Canisius.

The Purple Eagles recorded a team score of 587 to finish second overall in the event behind Bona (558) and in front of the Griffs (594).

Niagara was led by freshman Carlos Hernandez, who in his first collegiate round posted a 73, followed by a 72 in round two to finish the 36-hole event with a 145.

Owen Gauder shot a 76 through the first 18 holes of play, before taking four strokes off his score in round two with a 72 to finish with a 148.

Ben FeyBen Hebert, and Velton Perry each finished with a 36-hole score of 150. Hebert, a freshman, shot a team-low score of 71 in round two.

Ian Wagner rounded out the Purple Eagle scorecard with a 152 over 36-holes.

Freshman Ian Kozlowsky shot an 83, followed by a 90 as an individual.
