Freshman outside hitter Lauren Hubert was named the Molten MAAC Rookie of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday. Hubert is the first Canisius volleyball player to notch a weekly award this season.
Across three matches at the Youngstown State Invitational, Hubert collected 33 kills, 13 digs, and two total blocks. The Buffalo native produced an impressive debut match, collecting a double-double with 12 kills and 10 digs against the host Penguins. Hubert was one of five Golden Griffins to have at least one double-double during the tournament.
Hubert and Canisius are back in action this Friday when they face Duquesne at 11 a.m. in the first match of the Robert Morris/Duquesne Invitational.
