Canisius junior goaltender Jordan Spencer was recognized as the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference announced its Bob McClusky Insurance Women’s Soccer Weekly Awards on Monday.

Spencer was named the league’s defensive player of the week due to her one appearance in the contest at Binghamton.

In her first appearance of the season, Spencer did not allow a goal in the 90 minutes she played, stopping all nine of Binghamton’s shot attempts on target in a 0-0 draw.

The shutout was the third of Spencer’s career and the first clean sheet for the Oxford, Mich., product since a 1-0 victory versus Cleveland State on Sept. 10, 2022. The nine saves were also the most in a game for the keeper since a career-high 15-save performance against Fairfield back on Oct. 9, 2021.

Canisius (0-1-1) returns home Thursday with a matchup against Detroit Mercy. Opening kickoff for the contest between the Griffs and Titans is set for 7 p.m. at the Demske Sports Complex.
