Ari Bezanson tallied two goals to lead Colgate to a 4-0 victory over Canisius in collegiate women’s soccer action Thursday at the Demske Sports Complex.

Junior Emma Oliphant and sophomore Mia Iacona led the Golden Griffins (0-0-0) in shots with two apiece. Iacona would give Canisius its first two shots of the contest.

Bezanson opened the scoring for the Raiders (1-0-0) in the 13th minute with a shot from the right side that Canisius senior keeper Jessica Jones was able to get a piece of but not stop.

Canisius would have their best scoring chance of the game in the 32nd minute with freshman Devin Dance was able to get a shot off towards the Colgate goal, but she would be stopped by Raiders goaltender Alli Popham.

Colgate added to its lead at the 34:25 mark when Ana Schremp collected a pass from Jocelyn Rowe at the top of the box and fired a shot that beat Jones before deflecting off the left post and into the Canisius goal.

The Raiders stretched their lead 3-0 in the 74th minute when Ellie Stokes was able to put home a rebound after Jones turned aside an initial shot attempt from Cara Schmidlein.

Bezanson closed out the scoring in the 80th minute with a turnaround shot that found its way into the left side of the net.
